“The best way to predict the future is to create it”
PETER F DRUCKER

Hello and welcome to Financial Passages – the website for all New Zealanders regardless of their financial position.

As we move through adult life, from our first job to retirement, many continuing and predictable changes take place. In Financial Passages we have built on this idea to illustrate how, as individuals and households, most of us also pass through similar changes in our financial lives.

We believe there are six financial passages, or stages that most men and women pass through – from early adulthood, to middle age, and retirement.

To find out how to use this website and to see which is the most appropriate passage for you, we suggest you read the Introduction section first.

After identifying and reading Financial Passage, we also provide some checks and tables you can complete on your own or with your partner to ensure your immediate financial position is secure and that adequate provision is being made for the many years that will be spent in retirement.

In addition to the key financial issues, Financial Passages takes a look at some vital aspects of our health. Health, even more than money, is the key to real satisfaction in life, especially in retirement.

Note: The information on this website is summarised from the book Financial Passages, first published in New Zealand by ING (NZ) Limited in 1997, and republished in 2006. To request a free copy of the book, which will be mailed to you, please click here.
